Our micro-perforated acoustic panels are a great way to control the sound in your building without altering your visual design.
Our team at IPS Perforating, Inc. offers a wide variety of perforated products for a range of applications, and one of our most popular offerings is our micro-perforated acoustic panels. These panels are a highly effective way to control the ambient sound levels within your building, and the micro-perforations ensure that the material doesn’t appear visibly different from the normal version unless you look very closely.
Each of our micro-perforated acoustic panels contains up to 30,000 holes per square foot, with each hold ranging from just 0.5 to 0.9 millimeters in diameter. While the perforations are too tiny to be readily visible, they make a clearly audible difference in the soundscape within your building.
To put it simply, when a sound wave hits a smooth surface, most of the energy of the wave will bounce back, creating an echo—this is why spaces with a lot of stone, tile, glass, or concrete are so loud. When a sound wave hits a porous surface our micro-perforated acoustic panels, however, the holes break the wave into thousands of smaller waves, each with a fraction of the original wave’s energy. In addition, the holes send these mini waves bouncing in different directions, where they quickly peter out into silence.
We have been working in the perforation industry since 2005, and we are proud to serve clients all over the Canada. If you are interested in adding micro-perforated acoustic panels to your building, simply give us a call to get started.
